MetMalaysia warns of thunderstorms and heavy rain in Kuala Penyu and Beaufort, interior areas of Sabah.

MetMalaysia predicts thunderstorms in several locations and rain in the afternoon in the affected areas, except Putatan.

A total of 1,958 people from 733 families affected by the floods in Tenom and Beaufort are housed at 17 temporary evacuation centres (PPS).

Three temporary evacuation centres (PPS) have been opened in Tenom to accommodate 100 people from 31 families affected by the floods following continuous heavy rain yesterday.

Several areas affected by floods in Tuaran continue to recover as floodwaters recede while several roads in Kota Belud were closed.

The remaining 94 people from 22 families who were housed at two PPS due to floods in the state were allowed to return to their homes.

All the flood victims were housed in five relief centres (PPS) in three districts, namely, Kota Belud, Beaufort and Tenom.

Almost half of paddy fields in Kota Belud which were about to be harvested, were covered in mud and at risk of being damaged by the floods.

A total of 395 Sabah flood victims have been placed at 10 temporary evacuation centres in some of the affected districts in the state.

All the 42 people at the flood relief centre at the Kampung Binsulung community hall in the Paitan sub-district have returned to their homes, enabling the centre to close.

State Disaster Management Committee secretariat chief, Col Mulliadi Al-Hamdi Ladin said 168 of the victims are sheltered at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Rukom and the rest, at SK Pekan 2 Pitas.

Deputy Defence Minister Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri today advised the people in flood-prone areas to evacuate immediately to relief centres when ordered to do so by the authorities.
